City of Columbia Parks & Recreation Advisory Board met April 23.

A. CALL TO ORDER
The Park & Recreation Advisory Board meeting of the City of Columbia, Illinois held Tuesday, April 23, 2024 was called to order by Chairperson Sarah Clarke at 5:04 P.M.
B. ROLL CALL & ESTABLISH QUORUM
Roll was called with the following attendance noted.
Members Present: Kathi Boyer-Edwards, Sarah Clarke, Lauren Darr, Chris Grode, Becky Hunt, Matt Klopmeyer, Glenn Melching, Jerod Merz
Members Absent: None
Quorum present.
City Staff & Officials Present: Mike Sander (Director of Public Works), Connie Maness (Assistant Planner), Alderman Lauren Nobbe
C. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Minutes of the Tuesday, October 24, 2023 Parks & Recreation Advisory Board Meeting were submitted for approval.
MOTION: It was moved by Member Grode and seconded by Member Melching to approve the minutes of the Tuesday, October 24, 2023 Park & Recreation Advisory Board meeting. Upon a roll call vote, all members present voted yes. MOTION CARRIED 8-0.

E. UNFINISHED BUSINESS
None.
F. NEW BUSINESS
1. Consideration of the request to reserve Bolm-Schuhkraft Park Basketball Courts.
Mr. Sander gave the board a brief summary of the request from Columbia Athletic Association to reserve the basketball courts every Thursday evening in July and August.
The Board agreed that this should be allowed and asked that staff bring a reservation application to the next meeting.
2. Discussion of Chapter 12.32 of the Columbia Municipal Code.
Mr. Sander asked that the members review the code and advise of any changes needed.
The Board suggested that language be added to regulate the use of drones in city parks. They requested they be banned except for special events.
The Board stated that in Section 12.32.190 Donations and memorials, in numbers 6 and 7 “Play Commission” should be revised to “Park and Recreation Advisory Board”.
3. Discussion of Bolm-Schuhkraft Park Ball Diamond Area
Mr. Sander discussed reservations at the Bolm-Schuhkraft ballpark and proposed turf fields with the Board.
G. STAFF REPORTS & COMMUNICATIONS
The Board asked that they have an update on Creekside Park at the next meeting.
The Board asked for an update on the status of the bridge on the trail, which was given by Mr. Sander.
Mr. Sander stated that the tennis courts would be resealed and restriped in June. Mr. Sander informed the Board that the ladder toss was approved in the budget.
H. ADJOURN
With no further business to discuss, Chairperson Clarke entertained a motion to adjourn.
MOTION: Motion to adjourn was made by Vice-Chairperson Darr and seconded by Member Melching. Upon a voice vote, all members present voted yes. MOTION CARRIED 8-0
