FOIA Request to City of Waterloo Regarding New and Active Residential and Commercial Building Permits on October 30, 2024.
In a bid to uphold transparency and accountability in public institutions, we at SW Illinois News have submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the City of Waterloo. The request was made on October 30, 2024, seeking comprehensive data about all new residential and commercial building permits issued from January 1, 2023, up until the present day.
The specific fields requested for each permit include the type of permit, date issued, fee paid, requester's name, address, and contractor's name. We believe this information is crucial in providing our readers with an accurate picture of local governmental affairs.
In addition to this, we have also requested information regarding all active residential and commercial building permits along with their current status. The same fields as mentioned above are required for these active permits.
As a media organization committed to delivering comprehensive news coverage on local government affairs, access to such public records is vital for us at SW Illinois News. This will enable us to fulfill our professional responsibilities effectively by providing transparency to the public and holding public institutions accountable.
We have also requested a fee waiver as a media professional due to our role in disseminating information.
We look forward to receiving a positive response from the City of Waterloo as we continue our mission of keeping the public informed about important local issues.
