State Representative David Friess has expressed frustration with the current legislative session, criticizing Democrats for what he perceives as a lack of focus on substantial legislation. In a statement released after House Republicans staged a walkout, Friess highlighted his concerns about the priorities of the Democratic majority.
"For weeks, we’ve been in session. For weeks, Democrats have had the power to bring real, meaningful legislation to the floor—bills that could lower taxes, address crime, and ease the financial burden on families," Friess stated. He accused Democrats of spending time on "political games" rather than addressing pressing issues.
The Republican protest was prompted by resolutions such as HR115-119, which Friess described as "a meaningless gesture that does nothing to improve the lives of hardworking Illinoisans." He emphasized that their walkout was intended to convey a message: "Enough is enough."
Friess asserted that Republicans were elected not for political theater but to advocate for their constituents. "Illinois families deserve real leadership—not empty resolutions," he concluded.
