City of Red Bud Public Health and Safety Committee met Jan. 20.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

Committee Members Present: Curt Guebert, Bill Hanebutt, Mike Rheinecker, Rodney Nevois

Committee Members Absent: Kyle Donjon

Council Members Present: Jeremy DeMond

Council Members Absent: Ben Schwartzkopf, Alan Piel

Others Present: Mayor Susan Harbaugh, City Attorney Rick Cooper, City Superintendent Josh Eckart, Code Admin./City Engineer Jeff Mueller, Police Chief John Brittingham, Admin. Officer Jill Landgraf, City Clerk Joanne Cowell

Committee Chairman Hanebutt called the meeting to order at 6:11 P.M.

New Business

I. Approval of Prior Month’s Meeting Minutes – December 16, 2024 Recommendation made by Committee Chairman Hanebutt, seconded by Committee Member Nevois, to approve the minutes from the December 16, 2024, meeting. Carried

II. Departmental Activity Report

The monthly department activity report was included in the packets. Committee Member Rheinecker suggested that a letter or notice in the NCN go out to the current UTV sticker holders reminding them that sticker renewal was due January 1, 2025, for the 2025 stickers.

III. Hiring of an Additional Police Officer

Chief Brittingham feels the need to add an additional full-time officer to the department. Committee Chairman Hanebutt said he does not see any opposition to this but adding it to the next year’s budget seems appropriate. Brittingham may start looking for an additional officer, but he may not make any commitments until council approval is given.

IV. Public Comments/Anything for the Good of the City

None
