The Healthy Holiday Hustle is set to return to Sparta on November 29, 2025, with a 5:00 p.m. start in downtown Sparta at the intersection of St. Louis Street and Broadway Street. The event offers both a 5K competitive run/walk and a 1.5-mile fun run/walk, aiming to engage the community in physical activity while supporting a local cause.
Participants can register for the 5K event at a cost of $20 if registered by November 14, which includes a shirt. After that date, the fee increases to $25 and shirts are not guaranteed. The 1.5-mile event costs $15 before November 14 and $20 after, with similar shirt availability. Packet pick-up is scheduled at Broadway Plaza, Auxiliary Room A (Suite 3), Sparta, IL 62286, on November 28 from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. and November 29 from 3:00 to 3:45 p.m. Awards will be presented post-race at Broadway Plaza to the top male and female overall finishers, as well as the top three in each age group.
The event’s registration fees contribute to the Sparta Police Department’s Shop With a Cop program, which provides holiday assistance to families in need. Organizers emphasize inclusivity, stating, "Whether you’re racing the clock or strolling with friends, there’s a place for everyone."
Sponsorship opportunities are available at three levels—Santa Claus ($250), Top Elf ($100), and Rudolph ($50)—with varying recognition on event shirts, banners, and online platforms. All sponsors will be acknowledged on the Sparta Community Hospital website and Facebook page.
For those interested in participating or sponsoring, Jennifer Barbour can be contacted at 618-443-1467 or barbour.jennifer@spartahospital.com.
"Let’s Believe in Better—for our health, our kids, and our community," organizers said.
