City of Red Bud Parks and Recreation Commission met Oct. 1.

Here are the minutes provided by the commission:

Members present: Jim Birke, Tim Fahey, Kyle Herriman, Wil Krick, Deb Opel, and Terri Reed

Members absent: Ryan Koudela, Winnie Rehmer, and Matt Shields

Others Present: Kyle Donjon

The meeting was called to order by Tim Fahey at Red Bud City Hall at 6:00 PM.

The minutes of the September meeting were approved as presented.

DOG PARK

• nothing to report

SPLASH PAD

• Closed for the season October 1st. Seemed to be well attended

POOL

• repairs/upgrades in the works

• attendance was better

• Committee would like to see the financial reports on the pool season and park (average attendance, passes, parties, food snack revenue, expenses-payroll, supplies, water/sewer, and pavilion rentals)

LINCOLN PARK/MUSKETS FIELD

• Deb Opel made a recommendation to the City Council that the City cover the cost of the porta-potties at Lincoln Park for Muskets, due to the restrooms being down because of the debris from vandals shoved down the toilets (plastic bottles, stuffed animals, leaves, branches) Wil seconded. The motion passed unanimously.

• Wil reported that the trees planted last year by Davey's Tree service are looking bad, do they need to be replaced?

• Musket Homecoming is this coming weekend

RATZ PARK

• New Ratz Park sign is up.

• Jim received a quote for a new sign to replace the hours open sign near the entrance. He made a motion to ask the City Council to approve the new sign made similar to the other at a cost of $138.00. Terri seconded. Motion carried unanimously.

• Terri made a motion to plant new Red Bud Trees this fall or spring to replace dead ones along the highway and entrance road. Deb seconded. Motion carried unanimously.

• Tree near entrance needs taken down

SPORTS COMPLEX

• Kyle Herriman reported all leagues were finished.

• Discussed who is responsible for repair costs. He explained that anything accessible to the public at all times is the City's responsibility. RBAA is responsible for anything inside the facilities.

• The City does pay for the ADA Porta-Potty.

COMMUNITY GARDEN

• nothing to report

RED BUD CHAMBER

• Matt sent in a report that Hop and Brew went well considering the weather and other activities in town. Also, the Chamber Golf Tournament is full.

OTHER BUSINESS

• Work Day for Parks will be held in the Spring.

Wil made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Deb seconded.

NEXT REGULAR MEETING November 5, 6:00 at City Hall.
