State Sen. Terri Bryant (R-Murphysboro) is thanking her 58th District constituents for sharing the love this Valentine's Day season.
“Thank you to everyone who donated Valentine’s Cards to my Valentines for Seniors Drive,” Bryant posted on Twitter. “We cannot wait to deliver these to the seniors of the 58th District.”
Over the last several weeks, Bryant’s team has delivered cards to seniors living in nursing homes across the district.
In seeking the help of area residents, she took to Facebook on Jan. 10 to post, "Help me bring some joy to seniors living in assisted living centers, nursing homes, and long-term care facilities throughout the 58th district."
Cards were accepted through Feb. 7 and those donating had the option of dropping off or mailing cards, poems and other well-wishes to Bryant’s Murphysboro office.
Bryant is planning a chicken dinner campaign fundraiser in Du Quoin at the Du Quoin American Legion Hall.
The veteran lawmaker launched her re-election campaign in the newly drawn 58th District by reminding voters of her conservative positions.
“The people of the 58th district deserve a Senator with a strong conservative record,” she said in a post to Facebook. “My record as state senator reflects my pro-growth, pro-jobs, limited government philosophy. I’ve stood strong against what I think are executive overreaches and I’ve taken JB Pritzker to task for his failed handling of the COVID-19 pandemic.”
Bryant was elected to the Illinois House of Representatives in 2014, and was then elected to the Illinois Senate in 2020.
Soon after relaunching her own re-election campaign, Bryant came out in support of a slate of Republican candidates that includes incumbent House member Rep. Dave Severin (R-Benton).
“I am really proud to support Jeff Bullard for Jefferson County Sheriff, Dave Severin for State Rep. and Barry Vaughan for Appellate Court Justice,” Bryant posted on Facebook.
Severin recently announced he plans to seek re-election in the 117th District on a platform that includes standing up to Democrats and giving more of a voice to voters.
